dinenr at San Fransisco Grill

After going for a light swim on the Sunday evening, we went over to San Fransisco Grill for some serious meat...

I ordered this: Rib-Eye (medium done).
The meat was tender & juicy... went well with tonnes of tabasco sauce. It was good... real good I tellya...

I dunno why, but that night there's only 2 of us in the restaurant the whole time. I think that's why the chef took his sweet time to get the things done, and also picked us huge sweet slices of meat.

Seriously, the picture didn't do the actual portion of the meat any justice. It's huge!! Maybe it's because of the 2 lumps of mash potatoes beside it that made the meat looked kindda less convincing in size...??

Japanese Buffet at The Majestic Cafe

the craving for Japanese food lead us to the Japanese Buffet dinner at the Majestic Cafe on the Saturday night. the place was fully seated, and it took quite a long wait at the sushi bar before we got what we wanted, but it was worth it. the typical buffet servings were equally yummy as well, especially the grilled beef, grilled lamb and deep fried COD.

I'll let the pictures do the talking...

salmon sashimi and unagi... typical choice of mine :)))

all da meat!! I went for 3 rounds of the same thing... it's that good I tell ya!!

lunch bento delivery

Hedo asked me whether I wanna order a lunch bento or not, and since I have not tried it, I went to the website http://greenbento.blogspot.com to check out what was on offer. Decided to go for the Laksa Chicken Rice. The price of RM5.50 is inclusive of a canned drink, and I opted for Grass Jelly (仙草).

The food arrived a bit after 12.30pm. The portion was pretty generous, and it tasted quite good in fact. The amount of laksa chicken was actually more than the rice because after finishing the rice, there were still a few pieces of chicken left.

RM5.50 for a lunch bento plus drinks sent to the office. Price is reasonable, and now I've got another option during lunch. It's best when it is raining outside, or when you feel too lazy to walk over to a nearby kopitiam for lunch.

dinner at Food Avenue

went to the Food Avenue to join the usual gang for supper after my badminton session last week. I had a light dinner before going for badminton, so I was very much starving when I reached there. ordered this:

Fish Fillet and Chicken Don. The price: RM11. Expensive huh??

[UPDATE]:
went there for supper again after another of my badminton session... and ordered this:

Fried Pork and Chicken Don. RM8. I ordered the fried pork just to see how it tasted... and it's just normal... nothing much to shout about.

dinner at the Steak House, Hilton

reached there at about 8pm. environment was soothing, and we were promptly shown to our seats. wanted to order fresh oysters for starters but too bad there weren't any that day. will try our luck tomorrow night... :)

I ordered the 500 gram T-Bone steak, medium done. Jo ordered the Rib-Eye, and typical of her - 7 seconds on the pan... yea, apparently she likes her meat with plenty of bloood... -____-''

this bread & butter + a bit of fish combo thingy was served first to get us started with. The wasabi butter was something different though... and it was pretty good actually...

then came my T-Bone steak... damn huge I tell you... with the 50% discount that I am entitled for with the Hilton Premium Card, it's only RM40... damn cheap and worth it lar...

shot from another angle. look at them fat on the meat... juicy and tender... *slurpssss*

after stuffing more than 500 grams of meat (including donation from the lady who couldn't finish her Rib-Eye), came these 3 pieces of cute dessert. didn't know what they were made of, but tasted pretty good and not too sweet.

the bill came to about RM177, but after the discount (drinks excluded), we only paid RM103. that's around the same price we'd had paid dining at San Fransisco Grill, but with much better ambience and selection of good food.

dinner at Chef At Home

went to Chef At Home at Hui Sing area for dinner after a late evening swim, we order quite heavy meals - a sirloin steak for her, a lamb steak for me, a caesar salad and drinks.

food came shortly, and again my mistake of forgetting to take photos but started to dig into them hungrily. the portion was very generous, and together with plenty of tabasco sauce, it was sumptuous indeed. only after we were filled to the brim that I realize my forgetfulness, so here you go - the aftermath shot...

lunch at Mitsu Shabu Shabu

it was one of those Saturdays where I was working overtime when I got a call from Jo to go have lunch at this new eating place in town - Mitsu Shabu Shabu... so I took off early from work (yea, overtime is somewhat flexible on Saturdays)...

I'm not a fan of Shabu Shabu as I think it's somewhat overpriced, and the choice of food served is not to my liking... went there mainly to kill time, and also to take a break from work... -____-

wasn't too hungry that time, so I only ordered 2 plates of meat (1 lamb and 1 beef)... nothing much to complain about as the meat was fresh, evenly sliced out, and the soup that you dip those meat into was pretty good...

I forgot how much I paid for my share, but I still think that I could have spent the same amount of my moolahs on more worthy meals (something like rib-eyes, tenderloins or even the buffet at Hilton... get the drift?).

However, for those who are fond of having their food cooked in front of them, by themselves, and sweat it out while dipping the food into the boiling soup, then Mitsu Shabu Shabu is the place to go to - clean, roomy, and with indoor (air-conditioned) or outdoor tables (for smokers)...

dinner at Rakutei Japanese Restaurant

went over to Rakutei Japanese Restaurant for an unplanned dinner. turned out to be a pretty expensive one... ''-___-
but seriously it's worth it though as the food served was as fresh as it could get...

Rakutei is located at Crown Square Kuching

We ordered quite a lot of stuff, and actually over-ordered as in the end I was the poor thing doing the clean ups while she sat there sipping her beer... ''-____-

let's see... ordered Salmon & Tuna, California rolls, softshell crab, garlic rice, and the one shown in the picture below: I didn't manage to take photos of the other food stuff as I was already busy feeding myself...

those raw prawns were super fresh!!

the bill came up to be slightly over RM160, but like I said, it's the freshness that counts... and the quality of the food served justifies the amount paid.
